Kikyou Shingen Mochi Candy 桔梗信玄餅アイスバー

Yes, Kikyouya Shingen is popular in Japan, and the Kikyouya Shingen Mochi Popsicle tastes very good as well. However, the candy version did not live up to my expectations. The most essential part is the mochi, but the texture was ruined in exchange for shelf-life longevity. The package cost $2.99 for 16 candies, which is a convenient way for the taste of Kikyouya Shingen. That’s about the only value I see in these candies. I don’t really recommend them.

Peanut’s Bubble Tea, Cheap and Classic bubble tea in Richmond

Peanut’s Bubble Tea holds a lot of history and memories for many. Emotions asides and focusing on the assessment point of view, this bubble tea stand provides lots of value. True that my passion fruit green tea was made of syrup, but the $3.25 with pearl drink is still unbeatable. Getting the flavour just right without modification is another feat where many others fail. When one cup of bubble tea elsewhere can buy you two cups of drinks at Peanut’s, I have to recommend it.

Share Tea, Under-advertised bubble tea franchise in Vancouver

Aside from the things I have said about the bubble tea served in Share Tea, I quite enjoyed my stay here. I think that is the princess within me talking. The tea is actually not bad once you get past the sweetness. As long as I know the taste profile for Share Tea is over-sweetened, I can customize my drink according to my taste anyway. That is not a big deal. The $4.80 for a large cup of bubble tea is very affordable, considering other places are serving $7 per cup. I was also very happy that the credit card machine didn’t even have a tipping prompt. I would recommend Share Tea but perhaps ask for half sweet with extra ice.

Freshslice Pizza

I ordered two slices of pizza for $4.90, one “basic”, one “feast”. The serving speed was instant. I even received a smile from the staff. The topping are not overly generous, but acceptable. Nothing taste out of the ordinary. we can see the crust rise evenly, an indication of a yeast with grease premixed dough. The texture is consistent. Nothing too hard to bite. The bottom crust has good structure. I was able to pick up the pizza by the crust without much dipping down. The bottom is not soggy. This is a decent pizza for its price.

Martini’s Restaurant

Martini’s is a bar-restaurant. They have been around for a long time. To be honest, this was my first visit. I was a little shocked at their operation. The food is definitely above average bar-restaurant. The drinks selection is not as wide as most craft beer places. However, they are solid on the price, service, and atmosphere. It is no coincident that Martini’s is still one of people’s go-to bar. Definitely recommended, especially on Wednesdays.

Dole Pineapple Pop, Healthy Popsicle

For $8 per 8 in one package, this is $1 a pop (definitely pun intended). 100% pineapple juice make this a healthy snack for all ages. Next time I find these, I’m definitely going to stock up. I assume a lot of people will have the same thinking as me.

Rocky Point Ice Cream Port Moody

After standing under the harsh sun for some time. It is a pleasant feeling to finally get into the store. Even though there is still a small line up, Rocky Point Ice Cream has hired enough staff to make the line move quickly. we can see the display of waffle cone options. The staff remained friendly under pressure of the long line and remembers my request with ease. I ordered Earl Gray with Honey flavour. The taste of honey is not very noticeable. Eating this ice cream feels like drinking bubble tea. I really like it. I asked for the cone to be put in a cup because the weather was really hot outside. The staff was very nice to do this for all of my orders.

Moii Cafe, Japanese Crepe

Just a sneak peak of what’s inside. Whenever there’s chicken, we can see a lump from the outside. Cheese has been fully melted. Chicken can be a bit dry. Moii Cafe has changed its serving plate from porcelain to composite wood. Although the wooden plate is flat, I think this is a good business decision. The hot crepe naturally sticks to the bottom. Their knife is not super sharp. I guess the porcelain plate and knife created too much squeaking sound. This shows the store manager paid attention to finer details in the store.

Daily Delicious, Sea Salt Bread and Salted Egg Yolk Croissant

Daily Delicious’ sea salt bread is very buttery. The bread is sturdy to the bite. The exterior of the bread takes a bit of effort to break off. This bread is nothing like those unnatural puffy baked goods you buy from most Cantonese bakery. Internal air pockets indicates the bread is baked with added grease (probably butter) before mixing, then butter is rolled into the bread before baking. There is sea salt to give slight bursts of flavor when you find one. The bottom of the sea salt bread is brown and crisp from butter. These are the highlights of this bread.
