Snow Angel Cafe Extravagant Korean Dessert in Burnaby
Snow Angel Cafe may not have a business philosophy, but they really captured the heart of many customers with their beautifully presented desserts. Everything we have ordered was created with a very high standard that they don’t just taste good, but also very exciting to look at. I know their bingsoos are also very beautiful but didn’t have a chance to try them during this visit. We would definitely come back for it.
We first noticed the Snow Angel Cafe when Yi-Fang opened their franchise on Dawson Street in Richmond. This little Korean dessert cafe is located on the ground floor of a new residential complex. There are many good reviews on google, and the pictures of their desserts look very beautiful. I was on a Korean bingsoo binge, so immediately put this cafe onto my list.
Strength: Beautiful and tasty desserts
Weakness: Located in a new building within an industrial area

How they look on the outside
The new complex is newly developed within the industry area of Burnaby. This is one of the first few buildings that came up on Dawson Street, so the surrounding looks a little scary when we come during night time. The bright interior lights from the cafe not only make their interior look elegant but also helps to make the area feel safer.
Modern interior decor
The inside of Snow Angel Cafe is very bright. Clean white wall with an open ceiling. There are three large pattern prints on the wall as art. The tables and chairs are simple and made with black metal.
Ordering counter
The counter was made of wood. These wood panels are laid out to correlate with the art decoration. It’s really bright here.
Baked goods on display
Other than the bingsoo and drinks, Snow Angel Cafe also offer some baked goods. There’s nothing special, just cookies, croissants, muffins, and some puff pastry. Some of the images on the iPad showed beautiful croissant sandwich (sweet or savory) pictures having vibrant colors.
Cake in a cup
These cakes in a small cup offer a perfect option for customers who don’t want to eat a large piece of cake. Putting them in a clear cup give these cake a pleasant appeal.
Tasteful minimalist design
There is a blank wall beside the cashier counter. They are simply decorated with greenery on metal racks. They are high enough to avoid being obstruction, yet they made the space more lively.
Snow Dirty Chocolate $5.25
Snow Angel Cafe has a type of specialty drink called “Snow Drink”. I ordered it to try because I have never seen any drink that looks as interesting as this erupting cold chocolate.
From the top
It looks like a tiramisu cake. The foamy cream on top overflows to create a round edge cake-like finish. Looking from the top, it looks like a tiramisu cake. It was also an interesting choice to use a clear glass with a round bottom. This cup of cold chocolate drink is very well presented.
Refreshing cold chocolate
My attention was completed focused on the beautiful cream. I cannot figure out how only parts of the whipped cream were dusted with chocolate powder. The cold whipped cream has the texture of ice cream. They were lightly sweetened and not too oily. The chocolate was cold and very refreshing. After mixing the whipped cream into my chocolate, I get surprised when I unknowingly pick up the chocolate bits in the drink. This drink is very well made. There’s definitely a lot of thought put into creating it.
Creme Burelee $3.75
The drinks were not the only thing that was made with a high standard in this cafe. We also ordered their creme brulee. The staff brought it to us and warned us to be careful of the hot container. We didn’t think too much of it but soon realized the container was extremely hot because the torched sugar formed a thick layer of crystallized sugar on top. The layer of sugar is thicker than my spoon. It was a little hard to break, but a pleasant surprise when we open it up.
Thick Crystalized Sugar
One of the most important things for me in a creme brulee is the contrast between the crisp crystallized sugar and the creamy custard. Snow Angel Cafe has definitely got that part taken care of for me. The custard had a consistent texture. It also has perfectly balanced sweetness with a coconut note.
