Summary

Normally, when I get an alternative flavour of the same product, the expectation is to have a consistent texture and flavour profile. With the taste and texture both lacking far behind its Milk ice bar counterpart, I cannot justify the $8.99 price tag. It is really rare to see someone screw up an Oreo product. I simply cannot recommend Meiji’s Milk Cookie Ice Bar.

Summary

I had so much fun with the Meiji Milk Ice Bar last week, so I went back to T&T Supermarket to get a different flavour to try. Meiji’s Milk Cookie Ice Bar has used black as the main color. Mostly because of the black cookie used inside. When I see this, I can’t stop thinking about an inside-out Oreo.

Other Pre-packaged Ice Bar

Packaging shows Oreo at the back

The packaging is simple, with black background and gold trim. There is a milk-splashing graphic in the background. The Milk Cookie Ice Bar rendering looks very fake, and the cookie distribution is nothing like shown on the picture.

The number of ice bars per package is the same as Meiji Milk Ice Bar.

Larger ice particles on the exterior

The ice particles forming on the exterior of the ice cream bar is larger than Meiji Milk Ice Bar. You can also see that the ice bar is not uniform. I’m not sure if it’s the way it’s made or the way it’s transported that caused this.

Meiji’s Milk Cookie Ice Bar did not live up to my expectation

Meiji Milk Cookie Ice Bar Texture

As you can see, the cookie distribution is nothing like shown on the box packaging. The texture is quite icy, and the balance of taste is not up to par. For some reason, the quality of this version is a lot worse than its original Milk Ice Bar.
