Dog Eat Corndog

Dog Eat Corndog is a nice little food truck serving corndog. The owner use his secret recipe dough and sauce to bring us authentic Korean style corndogs. He uses low temperature to deep-fry the corndogs so he can give customers the ideal corndog he wants to serve even though it drastically reduce the efficiency in serving. I really enjoyed the taste and texture of the corndog batter. It’s like eating a cake inside a crispy corndog shell. The cost of corndogs ranges from $4 to $8 which is a little high for corndogs, but still acceptable given how much care the owner of Dog Eat Corndog put into each corndogs.

Mon Paris Patisserie

We were excited to try Mon Paris Patisserie after 3 years they have been open. The store is beautifully setup with display that just works. We really enjoyed the croissant, but think the cake can use some work. Next time we will come for the bonbons, macaron and Chocolate double baked with hazelnuts croissant. Mon Paris Patisserie is fairly priced. Even though I think the cake needs improvement, I’m sure there are customers who find the cake just perfect.

Minus Cake Boutique

Minus Cake Boutique makes really good cakes and drinks. Having a cake on top of the drink is a new concept we have not seen before. The combo makes cakes and drink cheaper by $0.50, but it is still very expensive. We would really recommend Minus Cake Boutique, but it is more of a place for special occasion rather than our default go-to cake shop.

L’OTUS Cake Boutique Burnaby

We have not had the chance to try their original location in Richmond, but L’OTUS Cake Boutique in Burnaby is such a pleasant surprise for us. Yes, the price is a little higher, but it’s really worth the visit with all things considered. The atmosphere, service, and food quality are all at a superb level. We highly recommend L’OTUS Cake Boutique for anyone who hasn’t tried it.

Mr Mustache Tea and Dessert in Burnaby

It was a little disappointing to see Mr. Mastache is making mistakes on the pearls, which is the most rudimentary part of a bubble tea shop. However, the quality of the cakes still cannot be ignored. The interior space feels very cozy, and the staffs are friendly. Mr. Mastache is not a low-cost spectrum among the bubble tea stores we have in Vancouver. I particularly like the fact that they are not part of any franchise, and they can really be a life-saver when someone needs to get a small-portioned cute little cake.

Hanlin Tea House Franchise Afternoon Tea

Hanlin Tea House serves very good and refreshing bubble tea. It is such a pleasant surprise that they also serve high-quality afternoon tea desserts. Paying $20 for a plate of 6 bite-size snacks is a little expensive, but you get to try most of what Hanlin Tea House has to offer. If you share this order with another person and order a drink, the $15 per person visit to Hanlin Tea House is actually quite reasonable.

Snow Angel Cafe Extravagant Korean Dessert in Burnaby

Snow Angel Cafe may not have a business philosophy, but they really captured the heart of many customers with their beautifully presented desserts. Everything we have ordered was created with a very high standard that they don’t just taste good, but also very exciting to look at. I know their bingsoos are also very beautiful but didn’t have a chance to try them during this visit. We would definitely come back for it.

The highest quality soy dessert in Richmond

Soy Talk is our new favorite soy dessert place in town. Differ from most soy dessert places where the soy pudding is cured using corn starch and gypsum powder (yes, the stuff in your wall), the ones served at Soy Talk are made using the traditional, healthier way. The soy milk also tastes at least 3 times thicker than the diluted ones. The cost of $9.50 for the signature dessert is fair for the food quality. We have no problem recommending Soy Talk to health conscious foodies.

Michele Cake Shop is the Best Bakery at Kerresdale

We purchased a small chestnut cake because they did not have the sliced versions. Our cake was beautifully layered with fruits and whipped cream. The extravagant chocolate decorations look like abstract art. We cut it open to reveal the layered sponge cake and chestnut filling. The sponge cake has good springy texture, and they are not dry at all. I enjoyed the chestnut filling because they are not too sweet. Most of the sweetness comes from whipped cream. The flavour profile is very balanced.
