Regardless of the heavy slash in price, the execution from ordering, delivery, and cooking instructions are all very simple and professionally done. Our delivery person was polite and punctual. He called me 5 minutes before arrival so I know what to expect. There was no unpleasant surprise and I assume this small detail reduces the potential delay for each of his delivery. The pre-processed ingredients are tasty and eliminated much of the time for cooking, which gives me confident and make my cooking experience quite pleasant. We would recommend TopTable2U to anyone who is unable to go to restaurants due to either COVID-19 or having young children at home.

We are all enduring social distance to protect our families and loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic. While going out only for essential supplies and restaurants unable to serve customers in their dining rooms, delivery industry thrived. To avoid the steep cuts from all the food delivery platforms like Skip the dishes, Uber Eat, and FanTuan, many restaurants are starting to provide delivery services. Today, we want to share our experience on the delivery service of TopTable2U.

Strength: Top quality prepped ingredients at a large discount.

Weakness: Your cooking skill has a large impact on the final product.

What is TopTable2U

Simply put, TopTable2U is created by 4 top quality food establishments: Elisa, CinCin, Blue Water Cafe , and Thierry. They prep the ingredients for us to cook at home with their instruction and a heavy discount. TopTable2U is a good option if you can follow simple instructions and would like to surprise your loved one with home-made tasty food (with help of some of the best chefs in Vancouver of course).

Blue Water Cafe Prawn & Scallop Paella

The seafood paella cost $15. It has prawns, bay scallops, chorizo pork sausage, saffron rice, and smoked paprika mixed with fresh vegetables and a drizzle of lemon. This dish can be prepped and ready in 8 minutes and the instruction is very clear on the temperature and sequence of cooking. Our finished product was very colorful and appetizing.

Elisa Truffle Roasted Chicken

The truffle roasted chicken cost $60 for Elisa dine in, but only $25 when we order from toptable2u. We find the instruction a little unsuitable for home cooking. Every oven has different temperature, and our oven temperature is a bit on the high side. Our chicken was unevenly roasted with charred top and raw bottom so we end up putting it back with the lid on for another 30 minutes. Taste-wise, Elisa’s truffle roasted chicken was top notch. Seasoned butter was smeared between chicken meat and skin and was very tasty. Overall, this dish was still quite a good experience with good packaging and minimal mess at home.

CinCin’s bolognese

If I have to pick an item that I regret ordering, it’ll have to be the Cincin’s bolognese. I have been to Cincin back in 2008 during a dine-out festival. the pasta was a disappointment and I never went back since. We thought to give them another chance, but I guess it’s “fool me twice, shame on me”.

That being said, the texture of the penne was pretty good. I guess that was a sign of a well-made pasta being forgiving at the amount of time cooked, so even amateur cook like me did not ruin it. The bolognese was a bit on the sour side for taste, and there was basically no meat to be seen in the entire package. We thought the small packet of cheese was a nice touch.

Elisa 5oz Wagyu Striploin

This 5oz Wagyu striploon cost $25. I followed the instruction to season, and sear with high heat for 2 minutes each. The instruction was incredibly simple to follow and I got a perfect medium rare steak. Caramelized exterior gives a mouth watering fragrance that filled my dining table, and the interior was very juicy. I enjoyed the striploin’s texture as steak for not being too greasy or too tender like other parts of the wagyu beef gives.

I suspect Elisa’s Wagyu striploin was tenderizer or even sous vide, judging by the color and packaging. We also ordered the Elisa steak seasoning and sauce kit. Inside, we find 4 containers with generous portioned content of Maldon salt, horseradish, red wine sauce, and Chimichurri.

Molten Chocolate Cake

We added the molten chocolate cake ($6) for our anniversary and staff was kind to include chocolate writing. We followed the instruction and the result was very similar to any molten chocolate cake from the ones served in the restaurant. The exterior was crumbly with liquid-like center. Caramel drizzle on the side was a nice touch, but it was beginning to feel a little bit too sweet. We had to add ice cream on the side to balance the taste.
