Salty’s Lobster Shack Food Truck
I am very happy to see Salty’s Lobster Shack choose to operate their food truck in an urban environment for us to enjoy their delicious lobster rolls close to home. Their lobster rolls are refreshing summer treat, but I am disappointed by the amount of imitated crab meat fillers inside. Aside from that, I hope they can be more dependable on following their schedules. I tried to visit them at the park twice at different days of the week without any luck.
When it comes to street food in the summer, nothing beats a luxurious Lobster roll paired with an ocean view. We recently found out that Salty’s Lobster Shack has relocated right into the middle of Vancouver at Mount Pleasant Park. Instead of the ocean, we get the view of the lawn. I was really excited that I don’t have to travel far to enjoy this Connecticut delicacy, so I had to come give them a try.
Strength: Maine style lobster roll that is refreshing for the Summer.
Weakness: Using imitated crab meat as fillers. Unpredictable absence at times.

Salty’s Food Truck next to the park
I came to Mount Pleasant Park in search of Salty’s Lobster Shack and found them parked on 16th Avenue. There were 3 customers waiting for their food when I arrived. This truck was decorated with rustic style and color. It has simple setup of an order/pickup window and menu taped right next to it. At the back of the truck, you can find large bags of ketchup chips and tomato soup base. The owner was quite friendly when I ordered.
Simple and complete sauce station
As you can see, there are many different sauces at our disposal. I wanted to taste the lobster roll without any sauce at the first time, but my go-to sauce for my next visit is going to be sriracha and Tabasco.
Lobster Rolls have Beautiful presentation
Rather than the buttery Connecticut style hot lobster rolls, Salty’s Lobster Shack serve the Maine style lobster roll with chunks of lobster meat tossed with mayonnaise. These cold chunks of claws, knuckles, and tails are piled into a top-open hot dog bun. The fresh dill and lemon juice makes this a refreshing meal, perfect for summer.
Filler amount is a bit much
Two large pieces of lobster claws are placed at both ends of the roll. However, when biting into them, I can see imitated crab meat on the inside. Aside from the 2 large claws, most of the inside are these strings of noodle-like imitated crab meat. I didn’t really notice any lobster tail chunks, perhaps in the extremely unlikely event that they have been blended into the mayonnaise.
