Summary

Nemesis Coffee was worth the trip. The two-page menu looks simple, but the flavour of toppings really compliment each other. I heard their brekky sando and french toast are really well made, and that is what I am going to order next time. The cost of $14 per person including drinks is not that expensive either. Nemesis Coffee is one of the best brunch places in town, and I encourage everyone to go and enjoy a lazy weekend morning.

Nemesis Coffee Front

Nemesis Coffee is located right at the corner. The side facing Victory Square is a slope, and the other side is the front door and where their outdoor patio is located. It was a little chilly on the day we came here, so we sat inside.

Nemesis Coffee Interior

The interior space has lots of wood. As soon as we enter we can see the counter with zig-zag diagonal pattern. Equally interesting is the wooden slats on the ceiling.

Baked goods on display

You can find baked goods on display on the right side of the ordering counter. Unfortunately, the menu looked too interesting that we completed missed these.

Water station and number stand

We sat next to the window facing Victory Square. This corridor leads to the washroom. On the side of the counter, we can see self-serve water taps. The choices are filtered flat or sparkling. Each number stand features different intriguing images.

The really good coffee

Nemesis Coffee is obviously known for its coffee. The pour coffee are made precisely with exact coffee to water ratio, water temperature, and brew time. During the downtime, the barista would prep the coffee by measuring and separating coffee beans by weight.

Flat white $4

My flat white was really well made. This cup of small espresso drink had a rich flavour, with a somewhat crisp texture compared to the ones served at Starbucks. The foam on top has a very strictly controlled bubble size.

Dok Anchan $3.5

Nemesis Coffee also offers a wide range of caffeine-free tea. We ordered the Dok Anchan, which is basically steamed flower. This tea has an interesting array of colors depending on the angle you look at it. When we first got it, the tea had a cherry red color. The colors then turn into a bluish-purple when we were almost done. The taste has a little bit of a floral note, and not sweet at all.

Foraged Mushroom Toast $12

The mushroom toast features organic locally harvested mushrooms and drizzled with whey cream, onion jam & rosemary gremolata, then topped with bread crumbs and parsley. The bread carrying all these are the in-house milk bread. This toast has a wonderful flavour. The gremolata with the mushrooms created an earthy flavour. Different textures are united by the sauce to create an interesting eating experience.

Avo Toast $8

The avocado toast is a widely celebrated dish among the Vancouver brunch scene. Artisanal sourdough bread carries meshed avocado, olive oil, and ricotta cheese with baby cilantro. The sourdough bread is full of flavour. It has very nice air pockets and a moist chewy texture. The avocado used is just about to be ripe. This is a vegan-friendly dish.
