Myth Szechuan (麻六) in Richmond: A Sichuan Dinner Where the Egg Fried Rice Stood Out
The dish I’d point to from my visit to Myth Szechuan (麻六) is the egg fried rice. That is not the sentence you expect to write about a Sichuan restaurant, but it is the honest one.
I went on December 28, 2024, so this is a look back at a single visit, not a fresh review. My notes are short, and I have kept this post to what I actually remember.
The room
Myth is in Richmond at 80-8100 Ackroyd Road, and it does not look like a typical Sichuan spot. There are arc floor lamps, green booths, a bar wall, and a moss wall with a neon sign that says “Myth vibe only.” Long tables sit along big windows, and a high chair was parked by one of them.

The egg fried rice
This was the best thing I ate. It is a good pick if you are visiting with kids who can’t handle spicy food.

The so-so ones
The dumplings in red chili soup were so-so for me. So was the cold sliced beef in chili oil, which came with peanuts, cilantro and sesame on top. I wouldn’t send you there for either.

The rest of the table
The photos also show a mapo tofu, a stir-fry of beef and tripe with green and red chilies, and fried rice cakes in brown sugar syrup with soybean powder. I didn’t write down how any of them tasted, so I won’t guess. The photos are here for reference.

What other diners say
Reviewers online mostly agree on the big picture: bold Sichuan and Hunan heat that you can ask them to adjust, very large portions that often turn into leftovers, and a modern, polished room. They split on service (friendly for some, slow when busy for others), on price (one Google reviewer put it at $50 to $80 a person), and several say the dishes run oily. Those are other people’s experiences, not mine.
Who it’s for
If you like a good-looking room and want Sichuan food for a group with a few mild eaters in it, Myth is worth a look, and the egg fried rice is a safe order for kids. I wouldn’t tell you to order the dumplings or the cold beef. For heat-first Sichuan in Richmond, I’d compare it with Miss Fu in Chengdu, and for a different take on mala, Kowloon’s dry pot in Crystal Mall.
