Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream
This store location features lower storefront windows for kids to peek through from outside. I don’t think they had to do that because every time I walk by, the smell of freshly made waffle cones naturally drew me in. It is really admirable that Molly Moon’s is tip free. They are assuming the responsibility for their customers. Even it’s just a couple of dollars, the gesture my day that much better. Not having to punch in tip percentage also made my transaction a lot more smooth while holding multiple ice creams.
Strength: High quality handmade ice cream with good flavour
Weakness: Very far from Vancouver

Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream is a Seattle based Ice Cream Scoop Shop. They were established in 2013, and all ice cream sold here are made on site. The location we visited was the one located in the South Building of the University Village shopping center. You can find their seasonal menu items here.

The bold vibrant colors of teal and red definitely catch a lot of visual attention. Even before I enter, I know this is a fun place.
Always a line-up
Molly Moon’s Ice cream shop attracted us with visual and smell. That lured us in for a taste of the ice cream. There is always a line-up here. There are actually not that many children here.
Molly Moon’s also sell other merchandise
When we entered the ice cream shop, we noticed merchandise to the left wall. They have Raw honey, sprinkles, hot fudge, and Ice cream scoop. A $16 USD ice cream scoop seems a bit expensive to me.
They also sell T-shirts. I like the one with the logo. The one that says “ice cream” is a bit boring.
The dreamy fragrance from waffle
The waffle cones have a wonderful smell that reminds me of childhood. They are hand-made and stacked with non-stick paper for separation. Most of the waffle cones are not perfectly round, but they are sturdy. It’s thick and crunchy that’s sure to fill you up.
Too busy to close the lid properly
The staffs are obviously very busy. It is understandable that they don’t have time to close the lid to keep ice cream refrigerated. Perhaps it is being used by other staff. Having the ice cream buckets exposed to hot air doesn’t really have an effect on the texture of my ice cream.

Yeti Ice cream
I ordered a single scoop of the Yeti flavoured ice cream. This flavour consists of sweet cream ice cream, thin chocolate chunks, and granola, topped with vanilla bean caramel. The different flavours combined wonderfully. It is a little too sweet, luckily they have a water dispenser.
Utensil station with water dispenser
Molly Moon’s handcrafted ice cream is a sustainable operation. Everything they use is comestible. This includes cups, spoon, an tissue.
The original scooper’s pint also sold here
You can also buy Molly Moon’s original scooper’s pint here. I personally have not tried the pint, but it should be good to be able to enjoy Molly Moon’s Ice Cream from the comfort of my home.
604 Food Critic Assessment
With the USD / CAD conversion rate, Molly Moon’s Ice Cream with waffle cone ($8) is not exactly cheap. The ice cream was good, but I wasn’t sure if it is suitable to feature an ice cream store all the way down at Seattle. I figured if a store is providing us with good ice cream, treating employee right, and do their part to be sustainable, then they’re definitely worth my time and effort.
