On the outside of the original milk tea, I see a failed attempt to mimic the trendy brown sugar pearl milk tea. The exterior streaks are crude for marbling. The milk tea tastes quite watery. There is not much taste for either tea or milk. The pearls have acceptable chewiness. Some pearls are stuck together but separate with a light shake. I was disappointed that they used taro powder instead of the fresh stuff. In my defense, the taro milk tea’s location on the menu was a little misleading. It was below Earl Grey Milk Tea, and above Fresh Milk Tea. I didn’t think they would use “Earl Grey” powder or “Fresh” powder, so I assumed “Taro” is also not powder. To be honest, it’s probably my own fault for the assumption.

Christian operated tea house?
John 4:14: whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
What is John 4:14? Something from the bible obviously. I did some googling and found the quote above. This forceful link between Chase Tea and the Bible is either the store owner’s false advertisement or an insult to GOD.
Interior space is warm and retro
You can see materials like vertical wood strips, bricks to make the atmosphere feel warm and retro. You can also see steel pipe light fixtures and some steel racks as decor.
Racking above the counter
The most eye-catching elements are the black shelves above the cashier. There are purplish tin cans as decoration above. I think these tin cans are used to contain tea leaf. However, the design feels like a afterthought.
Enough seating for customers
We arrived around 9:15 pm. There were only a few people lining up with me. Even with some customers using their lap top, there was quite a bit of empty seats.
Payment options
Chase Tea only accepts cash, Wechat pay, or Ali Pay. This is not ideal for us who don’t have Chinese citizenship. The Wechat conversion rate is 1CAD:5.5RMB. And the Ali pay uses a fluctuating currency.

I have the same note for the taro milk tea with pearls as the original milk tea with pearls. To be honest, I was disappointed that they used taro powder instead of the fresh stuff. 604 Food Critic Assessment
These 2 cups of milk tea with pearls cost me $11, and these are the basic of basics in the world of bubble tea. I know places like HouCaiLei Tea House are charging at $5.5, but their tea has rich flavour and they have very artistic atmosphere. I cannot justify the $5 watered down, powder-mixed milk tea at Chase Tea. The milk tea here does not worth my time or money. Not recommended.
