Aperture Coffee Bar – Affogato Flights and Live Jazz in the Back Room on Main
Aperture Coffee Bar sits at 4124 Main Street, in the Walden Building at Main and King Edward, in Riley Park (South Main). From the street it looks like a small coffee counter. Walk in and you find wooden tables, framed photos on the wall, and a vintage Yamaha motorcycle parked like a centrepiece under a yellow helmet. The staff are friendly. Stay a while. This is not a grab-and-go stop.

The pastry case is full — muffins, croissants, danishes, cookies — so you are not stuck with one sad croissant. Milk alternatives are easy to get. Coffee by day, beer and wine later. The place gets busy, and finding a seat can take a minute, but once you sit, the seating is comfortable and most people like it.

Look down at the floor by the counter and you will see the hint: you are missing out on the back room. That second room is the real reason this café feels bigger than it looks. It is cool and cozy, the kind of space where you settle in. In the evening it turns into a live jazz room (about 7–9 pm, admission by donation). Day to night, same address.

The signature drink move here is the affogato flight — a few flavours in one go, not only classic espresso. There are ginger-style drinks on the board too, if you want something different from a straight latte. I would come back for the room, the motorcycle corner, the pastry case, and the chance to catch jazz in the back.

Farther down Main near 32nd, Au Petit Cafe is the neighbourhood stop for banh mi and a dark French iced coffee. For a downtown brunch-and-coffee run, Nemesis Coffee on West Hastings is the usual pick.

Friendly staff, a full pastry case, good milk-alternative options, and a cool back room that turns into live jazz at night. The motorcycle corner sets the tone. Affogato flights are the signature. Come to sit, not to rush.
