Teapressu Bubble Tea
the store is using these ingredients with care to create high-quality tea. We have been going to their food truck for many years and their tea quality hasn’t declined at all. The price point is fair, especially in today’s cost standard. They have a few kinks to work out, but Teapressu is a bubble tea store that we highly recommend.
Teapressu started out as a food truck that changes its location almost every day in Vancouver. As their name suggested, Teapressu uses the espresso method to make their tea. High heat and pressure are used for extraction to get the most out of the tea. We are really glad to learn that they are having the soft opening of their first physical location at Royal Oak Avenue and Kingsway at Burnaby. This location is near Boiling point, Ben Gong’s Tea, and Kamamarui Ramen and Don.
Strength: Great tea flavour. Good quality control. Good pearls.
Weakness: Location changes daily which is inconvenient.

Storefront of Teapressu
Unfortunately, the exterior doesn’t look too impressive at the moment. Teapressu’s blue awning is simply a plastic sheet covering old Active Body’s red awnings. It’s wrinkled and makes the store look run-down. To be honest, I can’t even see the Teapressu logo. I wouldn’t have entered if I haven’t had their tea before.
Interior of Teapressu
The interior of the store is also under construction, the left side of the store is walled off due to COVID-19. No judgment on making the store long and narrow due to pandemic. Unfortunately, the rest of the area that allows for the customer wasn’t very well done either. The green doesn’t match their signature color, and some of the wires are poorly concealed. This wasn’t an issue when they were doing business through a food truck, but they will need to do a better job at their physical appearance if they want to compete with Chatime next door.
Packaging of the drinks
Teapressu also adopted a new cup design. The slanted siding on the cup wall creates an interesting 3D pattern. These cups are taller but also narrower. Bubble tea stores usually change to this container profile as a business decision to reduce the amount of tea served per order. However, to my surprise, the quantity doesn’t seem less than before.
There is a band of logo with a gauge on the side of the cup, and we all know these are quality control gauge seen on Starbucks and Macdonald cups among the cups of some other bubble tea stores. This is nothing new, but essential to keep every drink taste the same.
Quality Control
Most teas are made with espresso to extract the flavour, but the owner did not just apply this method blindly on every drink. Teas with a stronger taste like iron buddha are steeped so the flavour profile doesn’t become overpowering. Another item that is special about Teapressu is the pearls they serve. These tapioca are smaller compare to the traditional ones. They are also chewy and flavourful. I have to admit that these are the perfect size for me. The slightly reduced size are also more forgiving to make. You can see on the pictures that they are always filled to right below the logo banner on the cup so it is always the right amount.
Straws are too short for the lid
One thing I did notice is that the straw doesn’t really work for the dome shaped lid. This is not a big deal and I assume the owner would correct this soon.
Food Truck Menu
Store Menu
Compared to their food truck menu, it is obvious that Teapressu’s store menu has been re-vamped for simplicity. They now have 3 categories of drinks at $3.50, $4.00, or $4.50. I really like this change.
604 Food Critic Assessment
At first glance, Teapressu may seem like a Taiwanese bubble tea shop. However, the owners are actually Cantonese. All the ingredients are from Taiwan, and the store is using these ingredients with care to create high-quality tea. We have been going to their food truck for many years and their tea quality hasn’t declined at all. The price point is fair, especially in today’s cost standard. They have a few kinks to work out, but Teapressu is a bubble tea store that we highly recommend.
