Black Milk Water, Milk Tea Flavor Bingsoo
These are straw-shaped bingsoo, unlike the usual granule powders bingsoo. Black Milk Water use elliptical plate instead of round bowl to highlight the mound of bingsoo. This is very good thoughts and presentation…
We heard Black Milk Water has a new, special kind of bingsoo. So we decide to give it a try after dining at Wang Ga Ma on the other side of North Road. Black Milk Water is a Korean cafe which offers coffee, tea, waffle and cheese cake. It’s tucked in a corner of the plaza on North Road, on the Burnaby Side.
The cafe uses two distinct colors of baby pink and turquoise on the wall. These two colors blends in surprisingly well to each other. The interior space is deeper than appeared outside. There are plenty of space. The furniture are in dark color to contrast the walls. You can see interesting slogans on walls while you enjoy your dessert here. The only complaint I have for the atmosphere is that the lighting being too bright at hot spots, and a little dark for the entire store.
We ordered the “Brown Sugar Milk Tea Bingsoo”. For $13, the portion is very large. It contains a mound bingsoo, a frozen strawberry, macha ice cream and red bean paste.
These are straw-shaped bingsoo, unlike the usual granule powders bingsoo. Black Milk Water use elliptical plate instead of round bowl to highlight the mound of bingsoo. This is very good thoughts and presentation, but I think the thick plate contribute to the speed of melting. When normal bingsoo has corn flakes at the bottom of the bowl. Black Milk Water cannot do that in a plate.
Normal granule powdered bingsoo is like snow. They trap small pockets of air around them and is a very good insulator. These specialty straw-like bingsoo is more like haystack. They provide more interesting presentation and eating experience, which I really appreciate. However, they do melt faster. From the time I picked up the order and finish taking 5 pictures, the milk tea bingsoo is already sitting in pool of milk tea.
The brown sugar milk tea bingsoo tastes a little too sweet for the first few bites. After you tried the red bean paste, the sweetness is not as pronounced. We talked to the staff and found out the bingsoo is made of actual brown sugar milk tea. The bingsoo tastes exactly like milk tea, no compromise. To me, ordering brown sugar milk tea bingsoo gets me the best of both worlds.

The $13 plate of milk tea bingsoo is well worth the money. The portion looks at least twice as your normal bingsoo with awesome presentation. The bingsoo tastes exactly like brown sugar milk tea. This is pure value with no compromise.
