Old Xian’s Food (老西安厨娘子) in Crystal Mall

I have not tried other Old Xian's Food location, but Old Xian's Food's Crystal Mall branch really should not be operating. Their food quality received a 1-star review because we don't have the option to give 0 star. The noodle has poor texture, mediocre taste, and they skimp out on the meat. On the other hand, the rougamo is just so bad that it should not even exist. You can really see the minimal care they put into their food. We have nothing against this restaurant chain, but the poor quality of the food served at their Crystal mall location is simply unbelievable. We do not recommend Old Xian's Food.

Long’s Noodle House best Xiao Long Bao in Vancouver

Long’s Noodle House is one of the iconic Shanghai cuisine restaurants in Vancouver. It has been considered the best place to go for Xiao Long Bao in Vancouver before the recent food scene bloom. I have tried many new restaurants that offers Xiao Long Bao in their menu, but many still fall short compared to the ones served at Long’s. The cost for $26 per person is a little high, but that is because we ordered quite a bit of food for 2 people. If you are even a little bit interested in Xiao Long Bao, you should give Long’s Noodle House a try.

Grand Chinese Restaurant Ambitious Name but Disappointing Food

The menu here is like a patchwork with no focus. This tells me they can make everything, but does not excel in anything. It's kind of like an upgraded version of a Cantonese Cafe. They serve Southern Chinese cuisine like Szechuan food that is not spicy and Shanghai food that is not delicate. They also serve Northern Chinese cuisine like pancakes and noodles that I did not dare to try. The price of $26 per person is simply too high for the poor quality of food.

Pot House on West 41st

41 noodle & rice pot house is a no-frill Cantonese restaurant. Where they lack with non-glamorous decor, cheap tableware, and broken cups are picked up by authenticity, food quality and value. I had a very frustrating dining experience picking out sharp shattered chicken bones from the hardened charred rice, but the food was still very tasty. I would recommend this restaurant. Just don’t get the chicken.

Fortune Lamb Dining, Chinese Restaurant on Kingsway Vancouver

Fortune Lamb Dining serves authentic Northern Chinese cuisine for $30 per person. Their food taste good but the food is expensive. This restaurant used to taste even better, but the quality of their food decreased as they got busy over the years. I would still recommend this restaurant, however I would be careful on what to order.

Chang ‘An Restaurant, Best Chinese fine dining in Vancouver

Chang An Restaurant is also called Taste of Chang 'An. Since Chang 'An used to be the capital of 13 dynasties, the food from there can represent China the most. They are also one of the most expensive Chinese food around Vancouver. Even though they are considered fine dining by cost. Their portion is quite large. You can make sure you'll go home with a full stomach. Unfortunately, the cost is close to $90 per person. I understand this price point is not for everyone. If you have important guest to entertain, Chang 'An Restaurant will not disappoint.

TerraCotta Boyz, Contemporary Xi’An Cuisine

The most important aspect of this bowl of noodle is on the noodle and the sauce. I have to say this dish taste very good. The savory flavour is not very strong. Dried herbs add a lot of appetizing aromas. Hot spicy chili is present but quite subtle. I prefer it to be a bit spicier but overall this is a very good bowl of noodle. The noodles are made to order. This type of noodles is wider than normal because they are hand-stretched from the dough. Once you order the noodle, you will hear the chef stretching the noodle and hitting it against the table. I think the noodle's textures are a little too soft.

Bing and Noodle World

Look at this picture and tell me how thick you think the soup is. Bing and Noodle World's signature hulu noodle looks like vomit in a bowl. There is a lot of starch added to the soup. All the toppings are chopped to the point that I cannot recognize what they are. The noodles are overcooked, kind of matching the texture of the soup. I honestly cannot tell if I am eating the soup or the noodle. The thick soup does a good job at retaining heat. This bowl of noodle burned my mouth multiple times. Perhaps it's a good bowl of noodle during Winter, but I did not enjoy it during my visit.
Bing and Noodle World specialize in stuffed pancake, which is the first word of their name "Bing". You would think they should be very confident in their stuffed pancake to call themselves as such.
To be complete honest, the stuffed pancake is not bad. They have thin and sturdy crust. The filling thickness are easily 3-5 times thicker than the crust. Perhaps it's the filling I ordered, there is a strong moldy smell to my stuffed pancake. I don't know what to make of it, but I won't be ordering this dish again. You are welcome to go and try the moldy pancake.

Sip Bowl La Mian, Chinese Ramen

Sip Bowl Signature Beef Noodle bowl looks quite flat, almost unappetizing. It has lots of noodles, a large amount of green onion and chives, a few pieces of thinly sliced daikon, and 4 pieces of thinly sliced beef. However, when I started eating it, the triangular shaped noodle was very well done. It's a little softer than I'd liked, but superb compared to the majority of noodle places in town. I can feel the bounciness on my teeth when I bite into them. The soup was delectable with a slight taste of savory, not very complex though. The beef was a bit too salty but goes well with the rest of the bowl.
