Finally Here: Krispy Kreme Opens First-Ever Vancouver Location
The wait is officially over for Vancouver’s doughnut enthusiasts. After years of anticipation and treks to the suburbs, Krispy Kreme has opened its first location within the city of Vancouver proper.
On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the iconic doughnut brand unlocked the doors to its new shop at 519 West Broadway, near the bustling intersection with Cambie Street. The opening marks a major milestone for the North Carolina-founded company, which until now had only one other British Columbia location in Delta.
A “Cafe” Concept in the Heart of the City
Unlike the massive “factory store” in Delta, which has served as the brand’s regional hub since 2004, the new Vancouver outpost operates as a “cafe” style shop.
While this smaller footprint means there is no “Hot Light” signaling fresh production on-site, freshness remains a top priority. To ensure the quality fans expect, the store has established a logistics plan where fresh doughnuts are delivered twice daily from the Delta factory facility. This system allows the Broadway location to serve the brand’s full lineup of signature treats—including the legendary Original Glazed®—along with specialty coffees and seasonal offerings, without the need for heavy industrial baking equipment in the city center.
Grand Opening Frenzy and Golden Tickets
The excitement for the opening was palpable, with lineups forming well before the 7 a.m. launch. Krispy Kreme fueled the hype with a “Golden Ticket” promotion that drew devoted fans to the sidewalk overnight.
- The Prize: The first 12 customers in line received a Golden Ticket.
- The Reward: A free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts every month for an entire year.
To further celebrate the arrival, the company also hosted a pre-opening giveaway on Monday afternoon, handing out approximately 200 dozen doughnuts to passersby near the Broadway and Cambie intersection, effectively announcing their arrival with a sugar rush.
A Sweet Expansion for British Columbia
This opening represents a significant expansion for Krispy Kreme in Canada. The brand first entered the Canadian market in 2001 and established its presence in BC with the Delta store in 2004. For over two decades, that single location served the entire Metro Vancouver region.
Kelcey Hamaker, co-CEO of Krispy Kreme Canada, noted the company’s excitement to finally “welcome Vancouver to Krispy Kreme Canada” officially. This new cafe is part of a broader effort to expand the brand’s footprint across the country, bringing the “melt-in-your-mouth” experience closer to urban centers.
For the thousands of commuters passing through the Broadway corridor daily, the new “Hot Light” might be metaphorical, but the doughnuts are very much real.
