We came to the first day of Prime’s Thai Tea pre-opening event. They are giving out free drinks for the first two days. Then afterward, there is a 5 day period that is sort of like buy one get one free. The wait was quite long, but the staff was bringing smaller cups of sample for people waiting in line to try.
Chai Cake Milk Tea
The Chai Cake Milk Tea is layered with whipped cream to look like cake. There are Oreo crumbs a the bottom to resemble the base of a cake. My first sip was filled with whipped cream. Surprisingly, it is more salty than sweet. After mixing the chai, the saltiness is not as pronounced. I like how the un-altered sugar/ice level is ready to consume, unlike most bubble tea shop that making their drinks extremely sweet to mask the bitterness of the tea. Chai cake milk tea does not come with pearls or coconut jelly. It rely on partial crispy/soggy Oreo crumbs for alternating texture of the drink. This is an interesting take on bubble tea. Not every cup of tea needs to have pearls or coconut jelly.
Signature Thai Coconut Milk
Signature Thai Coconut Milk is made of real coconut milk and blended real mango. It’s all natural ingredients and you can definitely taste them. Because of the real mango, this drink is a little too thick for me. However, it still tastes good. This drink comes with agar and small clear tapioca (not the black pearl) for varying texture. I like how the tapioca is cooked. It’s a little harder than we see from Cantonese dessert places so it doesn’t blend into the texture with the thick drink.
Lemon Butterfly Star
Lemon Butterfly Star is a really beautiful drink. It is made of dried butterfly pea flowers mixed in lemonade. The color of butterfly pea flower drinks will change color based on the acidity level of the liquid it’s mixed with. I like how the sour taste with the not too overpowering sweetness make this drink perfect for a summer refreshment.
We talked to the store owner and found out there are more promotions comings. We cannot reveal the upcoming promotion yet, so please stay tuned to find out what they are.
604 Food Critic Assessment
Today’s line up was intense. This will happen every time a store is giving out free stuff. Prime’s Thai Tea did not cheap out on their promotion. They gave out $6.80 worth of drinks to everyone. I can justify the price point after seeing how the entire drink is made of fresh, natural ingredient.
