I have been wanting to write about My Frosty for a long time. This is a Korean Dessert Café serving one of the highest quality bingsoo in town. I came here in various occasions where I was refused to be served due to the amount of customers in the store. When there are not much customers in the store, their service is generally pretty good. My Frosty Korean Dessert Café is located on Renfrew Street near 1st Avenue in Vancouver.
Strength: High quality bingsoo that is fluffy
Weakness: Inadequate storefront exposure

My Frosty is in a half basement
My Frosty has a large portion of the store tucked underground. Their front entrance is facing South, but you have to walk down a half flight of stair to get to it. This limited their exposure from Renfrew Street. An alternative to get to My Frosty is through the plaza’s parking lot. Even then, customers have to walk through a poorly lit corridor to get to them.
Modern, cozy interior
The lighting for the interior space has a warmer color. Materials and decor used here are quite trendy and artistic. There are about 30 seats in the store with majority of them being outdoor patio themed table and chair.
Busy cashier counter with lots going on
The cashier counter has lots going on. You have the menu boards behind and some illustrated menu leading to the staff. There is usually 1 to 2 staff working here. Sometimes, if they are busy with previous order, they will not acknowledge the next customer. Do not get angry. Take a step back and thing about the Bingsoo.
Convenience table with artsy decor for display
This convenience table has most of the things you need from tissue paper, honey, syrup, straw, utensil, and hot tea. They don’t provide ice water but I am okay with it. The decoration looks thoughtful. These pictures features their desserts which is quite appetizing.
Injeolmi (Rice Cake) Bingsoo
The large size Bingsoo is served in a glass bowl. There were 2 of us so the staff is thoughtful enough to give us two spoon and two smaller plastic bowls.
The Injeolmi bingsoo is also “rice cake” flavoured bingsoo. The subtle taste of ‘rice cake” actually comes from baked soy powder. The impressive aspect of My Frosty’s is their flavoured bingsoo base. our Injeolmi bingsoo was fully flavoured, rather than syrup on top of milk bingsoo.
Beautifully layerd bingsoo
My Frosty serves beautifully layered bingsoo. Toppings at the layers alternates so the eating experience is quite pleasant and full of surprise. You can’t foresee the size of the red bean paste you have found. The rice cake was chewy and seemingly unaffected by the adjacent ice. Red bean paste was very sweet. It’s useful when you need a sweetness boost
Fluffy bingsoo like it should
The bingsoo here has a bit of melting on top. Finer particles absorb heat faster, and that’s just physics. However, the inside remain fluffy. When I scoop too much shaved ice, they fall over the spoon like snowing. That is impressive. The texture actually feel a little dry when you first put it in your mouth, and time is required to let bingsoo melt. This is good bingsoo to me.
604 Food Critic Assessment
My Frosty’s bingsoo has very high quality in terms of flavour and insulation of the shaved ice. A lot of the other bingsoo I have tried elsewhere have the ice melting as soon as it’s made. My Frosty’s shaved ice retained its form. It took me 12 minutes to finish my bingsoo, and the shaved ice remained reasonable flakiness until the end. A large bingsoo cost $14, and I would recommend this to everyone. Just make sure you don’t come here when they’re busy.
