Kirin Seafood Restaurant is one of the oldest high-quality Cantonese Seafood Restaurant in Vancouver. They have been around for a least 20 years. During this time, Kirin continued to adopt new recipe and never downgrades their food quality for a higher profit margin. That is respectable. This Kirin Seafood Restaurant is located on Cambie and West 12th Avenue in Vancouver, on the 3rd floor of City Square.
The North Platform Has Good Mountain View
Upon entering into the dining area, Kirin is split into 3 areas. The North platform oversees the mountain view. The South platform faces both Cambie and West 12th Avenue. The central area is just across from the Vancouver city hall building.
Flexible Space To Accommodate Special Events
This division of space provides flexibility. Many Chinese events such as weddings are hosted here. Depending on the number of guests, Kirin Seafood Restaurant can allocate different parts of the restaurant to accommodate your event.
Looking back towards the entrance is a large jade-like art piece. This is signature to this Kirin location. It is called the Jade Kirin in Chinese.
Top-Notch Service
There are 2 pots of tea. The first thing you get asked by the waiter is what kind of tea you would like to drink. They will bring 1 pot of tea with 1 pot of water as a standard seafood restaurant practice. You can get an extra pot of different type of tea you have guests who prefer to drink something else.
The waiters in the Kirin Seafood Restaurant have very good customer service. They would cover your jacket so it doesn’t get dirty. Also, right when you ask for the bill, they would bring you hot sanitized towels to clean your hand. Their attention to detail is top-notch.

Some places will charge you for this. Kirin is very generous for bringing these to us without additional charge. It is also worth mentioning that if you are a regular here, they will greet you by your name.
High-Quality Ingredients Reflects In The Taste
I’ve always believed Shu Mai is the most fundamental dish in Dim Sum. These Shu Mai have decent size, but not overwhelming. The prawn is fresh and crisp. The pork is firm, but easy on the teeth. My first bite brought me a rich flavour of the mushroom to begin. The savory prawn follows, then it ends with the taste of pork that lingers after you have finished eating. This Shu Mai is pleasantly complex.
Steamed Prawn Dumpling
The steamed prawn dumpling has large pieces of prawn inside the rice skin. These rice skins are firm and relatively easy to handle. They don’t break easily or stick to one another. Anyone with some skills with chopsticks can pick them up without much trouble. The prawns are crisp and flavourful with fish paste. This is pleasant to eat.
Rice Rolls Are Delicately Made.
Kirin Seafood Restaurant’s rice rolls are really well made. The rice roll outside the fillings has minimal overlap. There are more filling than the rice roll, unlike Grand Dynasty Seafood Restaurant where you can find a lump of the rice roll. Good job to Kirin’s chef.
Minced Fish Rice Roll Is My New Favorite
This is the dish with the longest name I’ve ever seen in Dim sum. I am not even going to try and re-type it. The deep-fried minced fish rice roll is very tasty. Unlike most rice roll where I don’t really feel full after eating them. This really satisfies my hunger. It also has a complex flavour and texture that goes very well with the sweet soy sauce.

The Kirin Seafood Restaurant is a very proper Cantonese restaurant. You can taste the fresh ingredients. Their service is very good that makes you feel being taken care of. You may have to look at what you are ordering because there are some very expensive items. Otherwise, the price point is approximately $15 to $20 per person can be expected.
