Boston Pizza Grandview Highway

Strength: Huge TV for sport events

Weakness: Soso food, expensive drinks

Other Pizza Places

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Front

It is a little hard to define Boston Pizza. They are not a pizza only restaurant. In fact, they are kind of like family-oriented White Spot that serves pizza. Then you merge that with a sports bar. I don’t think pizza is their focus. They are more like a premium bar food restaurant. This Boston Pizza is located on Grandview Highway near Boundary Road.

It is quite empty when we arrived at 8:30 pm

Most of the tables are still empty. The business starts to pick up at around 9:15 pm.

Huge TV for sports events

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Large TV

We didn’t come here on a day of a major sports event, but I was very impressed by the huge TV. It must be at least 300″.

50″ small TV at every angle

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Small TV

Boston Pizza may not be a good restaurant, but they are a good sports bar. There are 50″ TVs at every possible angle, unlike Happy Tree House where they line up their TV on one wall.

The location is not well maintained.

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Poorly Maintained

We can see the age of the store from the booth’s cushion. The crack on the seat is very scratchy. This is a very bad image for Boston Pizza. I have seen better furniture in some run-down Chinese restaurants.

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Dirty Environment

The empty table next to where I sat had garbage and food crumbs on the floor for most of my time here. This is when the store was relatively empty. Later they cleaned it because a large group of guest needed to use this as a combined table.

The Hungry Carnivore Gourmet Pasta

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway The Hungry Carnivore $19.99

The hungry carnivore pasta is basically meat lover pizza in a bowl. We have penne with bolognese meat sauce as the base. The meats are spicy sausage, pepperoni, meatball. There is also a lot of mushroom with green and red bell pepper. On top, we have fresh grated parsley and parmesan cheese.

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Cheese Bread

The pasta comes with 2 pieces of bacon garlic cheese bread on the side. It is very puffy. When you bite into it, the air just escapes. The bread does not have much bounce to the bite.

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Meat Ball

As for the paste, penne is obviously overcooked. They are too soft. The bolognese meat sauce is overpowered by the taste of bell pepper. Meatballs are dry. I can see the trace of a lot of starch added to the meat.

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Stacked Pepperoni

I see a stack of sliced pepperoni. This tells me they did not take great care of the food they put together. Spicy sausage is a bit tasteless. Perhaps it was overpowered by the bolognese’s taste of bell pepper.

8 wings for $13.59

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Chicken Wings Starter Size $13.59

Let’s not talk about $2 per chicken wing. These 8 chicken wings equal to two sleeves (14 oz) of premium draught beer at $7.00 each. The chicken wings are not that great. They are tender but not juicy, soft and soggy without feedback. The salt and pepper dry rub have good flavor. It is a little salty but good with drinks.

Chili pepper doesn’t really come out

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Chili Pepper and Cheese bottle

The cheese bottle is fine, but chili bottle seems like it’s stuck or something. I shake for 1 minute and see about 10 specs of chili seed on my pasta.

A thoughtful corporate decision on the wet towel.

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway Packaged Wet Towel

As soon as we ordered the chicken wings, we received one packaged wet towel per person. This is a very thoughtful gesture.

Good to-go Box

Boston Pizza Grandview Highway To-Go Box

This microwavable, recyclable to-go container is very convenient. Once again, very thoughtful. It’s much more convenient than the styrofoam containers. I can just grab this and microwave the entire box for my next meal.

604 Food Critic Assessment

For $21 per person, Boston Pizza is an expensive restaurant that serves mediocre food. However, if you look at it as a sports bar, then things become justifiable. The drinks are also on the expensive side for $7 a pint. But remember, you are not paying for just the drinks, but also the environment. Boston Pizza is not really a restaurant. It’s more like a gathering place for friends.
