Vancouver’s bubble tea industry is booming. We hear the name of Xing Fu Tang, Yi Fang, Hanlin Tea House, Chatime, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. But we rarely hear about Share Tea. I have decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. The Share Tea I went to is located on Kingsway near Boundary Road, Vancouver.
Strength: Cute interior decor. Drinks have unique
Weakness: Cups were sticky. Drinks a bit warmer than optimal.
Share Tea on Kingsway
This Share Tea location has a fairly wide storefront. The inset created a break from the building fabric to create a welcoming entrance. There is a sandwich board signage in front to attract attention. The tile floor missing a few pieced which should be repaired.
A Cozy first impression
The interior space has generic T-Bar ceiling with pot lights. There is a wooden wall and counter to the right side of the entrance. This is also where you can find the menu. The waitress was patient to my hesitation of my order.
Small decor to set the mood
Also on the counter, we can see some of the thoughtful displays. The greenery and the pink miniature eiffel tower really set the mood for the entire store.
A Good combination of industrial and princess style
We can see polished concrete floor working really well with the slightly pink furniture. The entire store has a bit of an off-grey tone. They work well together.
TV wall at the back with Sofa Area
At the back of the store, you can find the wall with the television. There are cute little displays hanging on the wall to make the gray wall less boring. This is also where the sofa is. I like how the comfy area is located at the back so one could let go and relax.
The Garbage bin area is well done
Share Tea only serves bubble tea, so the everything is smaller than the two holes provided. Once again, you can see the pink-dominant decor. With the garbage bins hole minimized, these decor was able to beautify the otherwise dirty garbage area.
Pearl Oolong Milk Tea
I ordered the Pearl Oolong Milk Tea for regular ice and regular sugar. This seems like the only way to really review the store’s vision of their drinks. Without modifying any aspect of the drink, the oolong milk tea was very sweet. The pearls appear to be soaked in the syrup in my cup. The regular ice does not have much ice so my drink is not cold at all. I feel the drink is comparable to room temperature.
Once I got used to the sweetness, the oolong tea’s flavour eventually come through. The pearls are reasonably chewy with good quantity.
Sticky Cup with mysterious goo
Another thing to complain about is the low standard of delivery. The first thing I noticed was the sticky exterior. I don’t know about other people, but a sticky cup for me is like a bad first impression. It takes more effort for the rest of the cup to make up for it. Sadly to say, my cup also has a mysterious goo on the side of it. Don’t ask me what it is, I am afraid to find out.
604 Food Critic Assessment
Aside from the things I have said about the bubble tea served in Share Tea, I quite enjoyed my stay here. I think that is the princess within me talking. The tea is actually not bad once you get past the sweetness. As long as I know the taste profile for Share Tea is over-sweetened, I can customize my drink according to my taste anyway. That is not a big deal. The $4.80 for a large cup of bubble tea is very affordable, considering other places are serving $7 per cup. I was also very happy that the credit card machine didn’t even have a tipping prompt. I would recommend Share Tea, but perhaps ask for half sweet with extra ice.
