About OEB Breakfast Co.
We have heard a lot about OEB Breakfast Co. before they come to Vancouver, so naturally, we were excited to see them opening a new restaurant here. OEB Breakfast Co. has been operating in Calgary for over 10 years and won a lot of awards. Because this place is so famous, there is typically a long wait, especially on weekends. They have an app for reservation, but if it gets too busy, you won’t be able to get a reservation with the app. OEB Breakfast Co. is located on Marina Crescent, Yaletown.
We came here at 8:00 am. There was still free street parking. I took a picture of this rare sight where there is no one sitting on the patio.
Front Entrance Looks Very Bold
The front entrance of OEB Breakfast is very bold. Courageous use of color and glazing. You can faintly make out the shape of an egg behind the cashier from outside.
I’m definitely gonna try to inhale a waffle on my next visit.
Interior Looks Very Contemporary
The interior is modern and the use of color makes the interior space very appealing. It’s a perfect way to start the day. The left side of the interior has a raised platform with a bar on it. There are guardrails around it acting as a barrier so children don’t accidentally get into the bar area.
Egg Shaped Light Fixture Behind Cashier
The first thing you see when you enter the restaurant is the egg shaped light fixture. It’s very fitting for OEB Breakfast. There are a few seats behind the cashier. You can see the kitchen behind everything. OEB Breakfast Co does not have preset tip percentage, but the staff’s friendliness is going to make you want to tip more.
More Seating On The Right Side
Looking to the right, is the main seating area. The color of the chairs are mainly white and yolk colored. There’s about 150 seats in this restaurant.
Patio Seating Next To The Sea Wall
We sat on the patio to enjoy the summer morning. OEB Breakfast Co. is located next to the seawall and we saw lots of morning joggers go by. This is a very energetic part of town.
There are brown sugar and cream in a thermos on every table.
I’m Gonna Get A Gold Digga
Even before I saw my food, I could smell the fragrance of truffle oil. The Gold Digga is poutines made with duck fat fried herb potatoes and Saint Cyrille cheese curd. It is served with Berkshire roast pork and topped with two poached eggs. On top, we have black truffles and brown butter hollandaise.
The bowl looks very colorful. There are some greens and eatable flowers as garnishing. Yellow hollandaise and red seasonings with orange pork and brown wedge fries just makes me want to dig in. The hand-cut wedge fries are perfectly fried. The exterior is very crunchy before it gets soaked by the yolk. The interior can get a little dry though.
Digging For Gold In A Literal Sense
It is quite poetic how this is named Gold Digga. When my yolk runs down the routine, I’m literally digging for it. It’s probably just a coincident, but I find it utterly enjoyable.
Farm Fresh Classic Breakfast
When you order something with a toast, the staff will bring a bucket of individually packaged jam to you.
604 Food Critic Assessment
For $24 per person, the superb quality of the food make this place an absolute steal. If you want to know the best brunch place that’s totally worth your money. This is it. I’m not saying OEB Breakfast Co. is cheap. In fact, they have some high end ingredients like caviar and Canadian lobsters.
